On to Florence

After a few hours in Rome, we caught a train to Florence.  We were excited to see the countryside.  Because of where our seats were, it was difficult to take pictures to show it off.  We did see quaint little towns and vineyards and castles on the hill.
We enjoyed the train ride very much.  We had comfortable seats and even got a complimentary drink and treat.  Glenn said he liked riding in a train better than an airplane because it was more comfortable and easier to look outside and it didn't hurt his ears.
Unless I have forgotten, this was Glenn's first train ride--not on a metro.  But I could be mistaken.  But either way, he wanted his picture taken with the train.
After arriving at the train station in Florence, we walked to where we would be staying for the week.  Paul found the place through airbnb.  We crossed one of the bridges and had a beautiful view at sunset.
It was a little tricky finding the apartment--at first because the name of our street was very similar to the street just before it.  We had first walked down that street, looking for #14 but couldn't find it.
Once we realized we were on the wrong street, we were able to find it.
Shortly after arriving there, Cheryl arrived!!  When she found out that we would be returning to Spain, we made plans to vacation to Florence together.  We were excited to have her there with us.
This was the door from the street leading inside.
This was the hallway.
And we were up on the top floor--4 floors up!
One of the floor mats that we passed going up and down the stairs.  It made us laugh!
This was the door leading into our apartment.  I forgot to take a picture of the key--it was the most unique key I've ever used!
The back of the door
and looking down the hall into the apartment.

the kitchen--the fridge, dishwasher and washing machine were all in there too but they had the same doors as the cabinets
the bedroom where Paul and I slept.

Glenn had bought a fun little toy for a Euro while in Rome.  He was excited to play with it.  Sadly after just a few minutes, all the water leaked out and we had to throw it away.  :(
We were all hungry and went out looking for dinner.
We passed some girls who had pizza boxes...that sounded good to all of us, so we found where they got it.  It was called Gusta Pizza and it was really popular.  Despite it being packed inside and more people coming all the time, it didn't take long to make the pizzas.
We ordered three--to go.  It was too busy and we wanted to be able to talk and visit.
Paul accidentally ordered the Napoli--the one with anchovies and capers!
So, we tried a pizza with anchovies and capers...My piece wasn't too bad, but I think Cheryl got the worst of it.  Sorry about that Cheryl!
But the other pizzas were really good!
Glenn was excited about his new bed.  He's always been really good about sleeping in new places.  He had a lot of fun playing with the pillows and such.
