May 11, our last full day in Spain, we made sure our bags were packed, went to Retiro one last time, checked out a few more souvenir shops and then had dinner with our new friends Daniel, Paloma and Estrella. While walking to the metro from the souvenir shops we took a few last pictures.
We weren't sure what this was about, but we thought it was interesting. Maybe they were part of a team or maybe they lost a bet...?
This vehicle was brave enough to go through the traffic while they pedaled and drank. They were having a good time.
We met our friends at the park near the Egyptian temple and then followed them to their apartment. Paloma made Gazpacho, a cold soup that is common in summer in Spain. It was really good.
Then the main course: Cocido Madrileno.
It is chick pea-based stew with several different kinds of meat. It was so good, authentic and homemade. Paul and I stuffed ourselves with the good food!
We had such a fun time with them and ended the night with some pictures. Maybe one day we'll meet them again. We sure hope so!
Thank you again for the delicious meal and the friendship!
