Barcelona (part 2)

Sunday morning (April 28th) we spent in Barcelona.  We planned on going to Sacrament meeting there and then doing a bit more sight-seeing.  We found the church and went in.
We thought it was strange that there were so many missionaries...and then we noticed men with "Usher" signs on their suit coats.  And then we realized that it was Stake Conference.  We realized that we wouldn't be able to understand the meeting AND we wouldn't be getting the Sacrament, so we skipped out.  :S  Yep, we skipped Church, but we went to look at another--La Sagrada Familia.
(Plus we were able to give our parking spot to a Spanish family who were going to attend the conference.  So we felt good giving up our spot so they could go to their meeting.)
La Sagrada Familia was also built by Gaudi.  He died before he completed it and it has been under construction for awhile.  I think there is still some debate about whether or not to finally complete the church.  It was so unique and unlike anything I've ever seen.  We couldn't get over all the different details that were all over the outside of the church.  We didn't pay to go inside--the line was pretty long and they only had scheduled times..but we did enjoy seeing it from the outside.
We drove around the city after this and saw more interesting buildings.
Then we drove up to the Olympic Village.  Barcelona was host to the 1992 Olympics.  It was pretty cool to see the stadium and other things associated with the Olympics.
We also walked around a beautiful garden near the Olympic Stadium. We got some great views of the city from up there.
Then Paul and Dad saw Guell Park.  Glenn and I stayed in the car--we were worn out and needed a nap.
We packed in as much of Barcelona as we could that day.  It was another interesting city and we were bummed that we had to go through it so fast.  But we were glad we got to see what we could.
