Wednesday, May 1st we had in Nice. In the morning, Paul, Glenn and I went walking around to find a patisserie to get some yummy pastries for breakfast. But shop after shop was closed. We couldn't figure out why but then we remembered that it was le Premier Mai, of May Day. We then went back to the hotel, got Mom and Dad and went driving around the city. Mom had lived here 50 years ago when she was a little girl. Her Dad, Grandpa Thibault had been called on a Church-Building Mission for the LDS Church and they lived there for 3 years. We found a parking spot near one of the schools that Mom attended and went walking around.
Just up the street a bit were some Roman ruins that Mom said she used to play on after school. We walked around there and it was really cool.
While we were at the ruins, we heard some music and we saw some decorations and such. So we went exploring and saw that they were having a May Day Festival. Wonderful! So we now had some fun and traditional French entertainment!
The first thing we did was get some crepes, of course.
Glenn immediately saw a bounce house and he had so much fun!
Then we saw the dancers head down to the stage. We were excited to watch, especially because they reminded us of Sirie! It was a lot of fun to watch them dance.
At the end of the dances, they invited people to come up there and dance around with them.
Paul and Glenn went up.
Then we went walking around to look at the booths.
We some these tiny little tools--they made us think of Grandpa Thibault.
After spending and enjoying our time at the festival, we then walked down to the other school that Mom attended when she was young.
Their playground
Their school lunch menu for the week. I remember stories Mom told us when she was at school here in France and the strange things they used to eat--and how they had to eat everything on their plate too. Very different from our school lunches in the U.S.
We then made our way to the Church building that Grandpa Thibault built. I've heard so many stories about their time in Nice and it was really fun to finally see the places I've heard about.

The Huber's went to church in Nice on their trip this Summer. It is such a small world. That was a great time at the little festival the locals were having.
So when did Mom show up?! That was cool that you guys got to experience the May Day Festival. Awesome!
