Easter

Happy Easter!

Easter morning Glenn got to search for candy around the apartment.  Once again we didn't have his Easter basket, so we improvised, using a colander. :D

Glenn got quite a haul--but it wasn't just for him.  It was for all of us to share.  

After the hunt, we made our way down to Retiro Park.  Earlier in the week we had met another American family at Retiro Park.  She asked if we had plans for Easter and since we had none, she invited us to come to a picnic and egg hunt that she was doing with a few other families.  We were excited to be invited and were happy to meet new people.  We thought the other families would be American, but they weren't.  They were from Spain and Venezuela and England and all over!  It was so fun.  And they had all met at the park!  And they welcomed us as fellow park-goers.  It really was nice meeting them and spending the late morning with them.

They were all so kind to share their food with us--we even brought some jelly beans to share and they loved them!  Glenn got a chocolate bunny from one of the families too!

We asked Maria to take pictures of us--this part of the park with the ruins has become my favorite.  And especially that day, with the stones and the doorways, it made me think of the tomb where Jesus' body was lain and then risen 3 days later.

That evening Paul made dinner.  We ate lamb to remind us that Jesus is the Lamb of God, that He is our Shepherd and we are His sheep too.  We had bread to remind us that Jesus is the Bread of Life, that we need His nourishment as well as physical nourishment.  We ate fruit and drank freshly-squeezed orange juice to remind us that "Christ [is] risen from the dead and become the firstfruits of them that slept," 1 Corinthians 15:20.  It also reminds us "Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them," Matthew 7:20.  We should be doing good things--being a good disciple and follower of Christ.

We had a wonderful day, full of fun and friends and good food.  I am grateful for the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.  Because of Him, His atonement and His Resurrection I too will be resurrected.  I am grateful to know that this life is not the end--there is something more after this experience.
