We spent the last day at the park at Yellowstone Lake. We roasted hot dogs for lunch and had s'mores too. And of course, who could forget cheese puffs?! : D
We thought it was the perfect way to end the week. We had seen lots of beautiful things and today we just relaxed, talked and splashed around in the cold water.
Our drive into the park consisted of, yep, more buffalo! We got out this time because they were so close to the road.
We also stopped to see a smaller, but still pretty waterfall. I could almost believe that this is where the earth started forming! With all the holes, and the bubbling water and the canyons, it seems just like the beginning of something! : D
Then we got to the lake. Paul and Glenn had fun with the cheese puffs. Then Glenn helped me roast a hot dog. And then Davis was kind enough to make a s'mores for Glenn. He sure liked it!
Then we went down to the lake. We rolled up our pant-legs and got right in! It was cold, but we got used to it. Since it was Devin's birthday, he took the little raft out by himself to relax. But somehow it started leaking and he got soaked! So the dream of others going out on the lake inside it were dashed. But the kids had fun in the shallow part.
On our way out we passed by the Continental Divide. It was really cool to think that the water goes down both ways from there.
And we decided to stop at one last place in the park. We wanted to see the Grand Prismatic. It is the largest bubbling...whatever! The aerial view is gorgeous, but we could only see some of the amazing colors as we walked around. There were other pretty springs and such as well at this last stop.
And that was our fun trip to Yellowstone!
Each night we also did progressive dinners with delicious appetizers, entrees, and desserts! We had so much food! We also played games and did various activities. We only have pictures from one night and it doesn't really show much. Then we took a family picture--except we didn't get a copy on our camera--so here's one of us gathering for one.
Then Paul, Glenn and I wanted our picture taken.
I love my little family!
