Let's Go Fly a Kite

On Friday Paul came home with a surprise for Glenn and for me.  My surprise was from Ferrovial--they gave us a membership to Rosetta Stone so we could learn Spanish!  Sweet!  Rosetta Stone is expensive and it's really great of them to provide this for us.
Glenn's surprise was from a co-worker.  He is also a new employee and will be going to Spain about the same time that we go--we still don't have a definite date yet, but they told us to look at flights to find a good price and when we would want to go, so that's what we are doing.
Anyway, Zach--this new co-worker--came to work with a small gift for Glenn.  It was a kite!

(Glenn is acting kind of silly/strange in the movie--he knew he was getting filmed and so he was acting interesting.)

We then took the kite to a park yesterday--the 16th--to test it out.  We went to a park we hadn't been to before and so Glenn was excited to play on the playground first.
Then we went to the open area to try to fly the kite.  It was slightly breezy so we thought it would work.  We got it up a couple of times, but then we realized that one of the little rods poked through so it wasn't spreading the right way.  While we were figuring that out and then putting it away, this sweet gentleman who had been sitting on a bench watching us, came over to see if we needed help.  He had been an aeronautical engineer and gave us some tips on flying.  And his name was Glenn too!  Our Glenn thought that was pretty cool.  We determined that we would have to fix that little hole and try again on a windier day.
Glenn holding the string waiting for Daddy to send it up.
I was too slow to get a picture of it while it was in the air, so you get the landing pictures.

I don't know when you guys are going to Spain, but I went their study abroad for a summer in college, and plane tickets were like half as much if you booked your flight to leave before Memorial Day. After Memorial Day it was ridiculous. Good luck! I'm so excited for your adventure!!!
