Camping and Air Show

On October 12, we went camping with some new friends of ours.  We packed up our stuff and fit it all, and us in their vehicle.  We left later than we had planned, got stuck in traffic, had to stop to get dinner and fill up the car with gas...so we didn't get to the campsite until after dark.  We went to the same campground that we had gone to a couple weeks before.  We didn't even bother bringing wood.  We set up our tents and sleeping bags and then we piled into our tent to play games.

It was pretty cold that night, colder than any previous and since then so far.  Needless to say, we decided that that would be our last time camping until it warmed up again.

The next morning we went to Cody and Ariena's car and ate donuts and had some juice.  Then we braved the cold weather again to play more games.

Then we drove down to Culpeper for the

Culpeper 13th Annual Airfest.

It was pretty cool seeing the airplanes doing cool tricks.

These first planes were really old too.

 This jet was really fast!

We were really close to the planes too.  They would land right in front of us.  That was pretty neat!

This helicopter did a few tricks as well--not as fascinating as the planes, but Glenn still liked it.

Then this airplane did this amazing trick--it stayed in the same spot, spun around, and even flew backwards! I didn't know planes could do that!  It was really cool!

They also had this man walking, sitting and doing other tricks on the top of the plane.  Crazy!

The video is a bit shaky, and he was kind of hard to follow...but you get the idea.

They also had a car show there, so while the planes were repeating some of their tricks, we walked through the cars.  There were some pretty cool old cars!

This guy let Glenn honk the horn on his old Ford!

A gentleman had a tent set up with some memorabilia from  WWII.  It was pretty cool to see the old newspapers, the typewriter and telegraph machines, and even the old tent stakes.

(I took this picture because Paul said he remembers his dad having stakes like this.)

Glenn sure liked the air show.  He's mentioned it several times since then.  He asks occasionally when we can go to another one.
