Washington DC Temple Visitor's Center

During the month of December, we were privileged to go to the Washington DC Temple Visitor's Center.
It is kind of like visiting Temple Square in Salt Lake, but not as big.  My favorite color was the purple.  It just looked so cool--the pictures really don't do it justice.
They also had an outdoor Nativity scene:

Inside the VC they had a room dedicated to Nativity scenes from all over the world.  They were all beautiful and unique in their own way.  We took a few pictures of some of our favorites and also from places where we've been or that are meaningful to us.

That night they had the DC area Mormon Orchestra concert.  We got good seats--so we could see their faces and the instruments really well.  While they were warming up and such, we pointed out all the different instruments to Glenn and showed him how they were played.  He really likes music.  We'd like to start him on piano lessons or some other instrument soon--we think he would do well.
He loved the songs and had a lot of fun.

He did fall asleep though during the last few minutes of the concert.  We were able to get his coat back on him and all that without waking him up.  We took a few last pictures before leaving.

We actually went two times--the second time was to meet with Paul's co-worker Mezzie.  She had been interested in going to the temple for a long time and since she knew Paul was a member, we decided to meet there and talk.  Due to horrible traffic that night, we got there really late and only got to meet up with them after they attended the show that night and had looked around already.  We had seen everything the week before, so that was okay.  But we did take some time to talk with them.  We also took some pictures with Mezzie and her family.
We had another nice visit there and also with Mezzie's family.

One last look...

Ooh, I love the purple lights, too! Maren, your dad and I went to Temple Square one evening - we had dinner at City Creek first - and took a few photos that I have yet to upload to my blog - they had outdoor nativity scenes set up - it was so cold, though, that we didn't stay too long...
