Templo de Madrid España

Last Friday—April 19th—we went to John and Maureen’s house for dinner.  They are from the UK and are here in Madrid for a little while.  We met them at church and wanted to get to know them better—so we had dinner with them.  Maureen made a delicious dinner and we talked and talked until late in the night.  I’m not sure how it came up, but they offered to watch Glenn for us while we went to the temple.  We had wanted to go but didn’t know who we’d get to watch Glenn.  We were happy to know that Glenn would be in good hands while we attended the temple. They have grandkids and were happy to watch Glenn.

So the next day we went back to their apartment.  We had been planning on taking the metro out to the temple, but John was so kind to us and drove us there.  We got there with just enough time to get clothes, change and get to the session.  They actually waited for us, which was nice.  They also had headsets for us so we could listen in English.  Paul listened in Portuguese and I listened to it in French a few times.  It was neat.  Being in the temple was so nice!  It was such a contrast to the world outside.  Such peace.  Such beauty.  Such a great Spirit.  I’m glad we had the opportunity to attend the temple!
Outside we took a few pictures.  Paul told me that this building was built by his company!  (Most of Madrid was built by Ferrovial!  Most of the newer things, that is.)  The grounds were beautiful and we didn’t want to leave.  But we needed to go get Glenn.
As we got close to John and Maureen’s place, we saw Maureen and Glenn walking to a nearby park so we joined them.  Glenn really liked that park—it was pretty fun.  We then went back to their place and kept talking.  We wanted to thank them by treating them to dinner.  So we packed up and went back to our place.  We wanted to take them to the Japanese restaurant near our hotel.  We got there just before 8pm, but they said they wouldn’t be ready until 8:30.  So we came back to our hotel and talked.  We got there around 9pm and were the first people there!  We ordered yummy food and really enjoyed being with them more.  I’m not sure what time we left—maybe around 10:30 or so—and by that time the restaurant had become really full and loud.  Glenn had fallen asleep and we were all pretty tired.  We were happy to have had a fun weekend with John and Maureen!  So grateful for our Church and for the good people that we meet!  We also are grateful for temples!
