A Day at the Park

On March 23rd we went to a nearby park.  We found it when we were walking home from my doctor's visit and realized that it was just north of us!  Perfect for Glenn and I to easily walk to during the day.
We have had a lot of rain here in Madrid.  People here say all this rain is uncommon.  I'm sure it'll make it nice and green and pretty, but I'm kind of done with it.  We haven't ventured out much due to it.  If I had more clothes and could easily wash my clothes here, then maybe I wouldn't mind going out and jumping in puddles, etc.  But we don't..so we haven't.  Plus it has been chilly, so it's not as much fun to get wet and cold.
Anyway, we did have a nice-ish day on March 23rd.  So we went to the park and let Glenn play.  We've noticed that Google maps show green spaces where the parks are...but it isn't really green.  Sure there are some trees, but there isn't any grass at these parks.  It's just pavement and dirt/sand/gravel.  It kind of reminds us of kitty litter...hehehe...but yeah.  They don't have grass at these parks.  I look forward to seeing grass again. : D
So I took some pictures of Glenn and Paul playing at the park.

So we've noticed that most of the parks here are a bit old and outdated.  Glenn did like going on the springy pig though.  Those things are always fun...
...This slide (and most of the ones we've seen here) and not so fun.  They don't really curve at the end, and let me tell you-from experience-that they hurt.  I don't know how the kids do it.  But when I went down, my bum really hurt.  Glenn slows himself down with his feet before he gets to the end so he doesn't bump at the bottom.  Wish I had known that before...
After the park we went walking around.  We tried going to a couple of restaurants but they said they didn't have the 'menu' available on Saturday afternoons.  Okay...so we kept walking to find something else.  On our walk we saw a billboard for the company Paul works for.  It seemed a bit out of place because there aren't any other big signs around and Paul said they hadn't had any projects near there...So we don't know why they had a sign, but we took a picture of it.
We finally found a Chinese restaurant that was open and had a menu option, and that took Paul's work vouchers.  He gets 4 vouchers each week to help pay for lunch.  If he doesn't use them during the week, he can save them and use them at any restaurant that accepts them.  So that's what we did.
When we got there Glenn wanted to sit on Paul's lap.  He was acting pretty tired and within minutes he fell asleep.  He slept the whole time we were there--so he missed out on the good food.  The staff there were all Chinese and the food reminded us of the meals we had in China--so pretty authentic Chinese.  When we had finished eating we were looking at the dessert menu--we had seen someone order a cheesecake and it looked very yummy.  Just before we ordered, Paul's eyes got really big and he said, "He just peed on me!"
What?!
Yep, poor Paul got peed on.  Glenn was sleeping so soundly that he didn't wake up when he peed.  So not only did Glenn get all wet, but so did Paul...and the chair...and there was a puddle on the floor.  :S
We were slightly embarrassed to say the least.  We tried to tell them what happened and they kept telling us that it was okay and they would take care of it.  We should have ordered dessert to go because they were so nice to us, but we just wanted to leave and get cleaned up.  We'll have to go again and order dessert...and take Glenn to the bathroom before we go. : D
So that was quite an adventure.  He has never had an accident at a restaurant before.  We joked that of course it would happen in a foreign country where we couldn't really explain things or have things to clean it up with, or where we don't have a washing machine.  Well, it seems like we have some kind of adventure every week...some however, are more exciting than others. ;)
