On December 30th, we braved the very cold, very windy day to meet Lena and her kids at the Treehouse Children's Museum in Ogden. Before leaving, Glenn and Paul helped with some snow shoveling. Again, I watched from inside. It was too cold for me! The temperature was in the low teens and the wind was blowing at 24 mph with gusts up to 50 mph! Brr! We could see the snow blowing off the tops of the mountains when we were inside the building.
The Children's Museum was such a fun place! It had a giant treehouse in the middle, with all kinds of fun little rooms and displays all around--on the lower level and an upper level.
Glenn, Jasper and Freya first started at the fire truck.
Glenn was really interested in the little pulley system they had. It's kind of hard to see the black and orange parachute in the second picture, but he was able to figure out how to get it to go up and float down.
Upstairs they had displays from different countries, so of course I had to take a picture of Lena and Freya with the Russian displays.
The kids really liked the castle and knight room. They got to build arches, play with LEGO's and other blocks; they got to sit on a throne and play a huge game of Chess.
While we were there, they had an activity in which the kids could throw bean bags into the hoops to get a pencil prize. Glenn and Jasper were even having fun waiting in line! Love those boys!!
Now it's their turn to throw--great job kids!!
We had a nice view of the new Ogden temple right outside the museum window.
There were fun interactive maps for the kids to play on too. They had the United States and the state of Utah. They could push a button to have a question asked and they would search all over the map until the found the answer.
They also had cute little homes, each modeled after different places around the world. We visited a hut from Mongolia, a Native American teepee, a home from China, Japan and Germany. Paul loved this wood bench in the German home.
Paul also had fun folding an origami turtle in the Japan room.
Glenn got to ride a horse at a rodeo too--isn't he adorable?!
I think Glenn would make a great President of the United States! :D
While wandering around the museum, we saw this sign made out of LEGO's. I thought it was pretty interesting, learning about the origin of this fun toy.
We had such a fun time at the Treehouse museum! Thanks Lena, Jasper and Freya for letting us know about this great place!
