Happy Easter!
As we had Easter with Cheryl we realized that she had been with us 5 years ago for Easter when we were in Spain! This time we were in Canada. So we jokingly wondered in what country we would be in another 5 years for her to come visit us. That would be pretty funny if it happened again.
Since we weren't home with all of our baskets and such, we had to improvise a little. We used grape containers, cut the lid into a handle and then shred some newspaper. And it worked out just fine for the kids! We used some plastic containers for Cheryl, Paul and I.
This was Sarah's first egg hunt (that she really knew what she was doing) and she was really excited about it. She liked spotting the eggs and putting them in her basket.
Glenn had to give Sarah a head start because he would obviously go a lot faster. He was good to hold off and let her get some before he finished it off.
Not only did they have some chocolate eggs to find--for all of us--but they also had cute little bunny baskets to find with Kinder Eggs inside.
It didn't take long after the hunt was over for Sarah to want to dig into the chocolate eggs!
The rest of the day was pretty relaxing. We watched the last two sessions of General Conference, ate some chocolate eggs and other good food.
That evening we had one of Paul's coworkers over for dinner with us. He wasn't able to return home and his family wasn't able to come out. We didn't want him to be alone, so Paul invited him to spend the evening with us. It was great to get to know Adrian. He is from the Netherlands, but lives in Paris, France. We learned a lot about him and his country and it was just enjoyable to have him there with us too.
Again because we aren't at home with all of our pots and pans, we had to do things a little differently. Instead of a ham or something like that, we decided to cook salmon. We cooked broccoli and also had croissants and fruit. It was simpler but very delicious. And to end the night, we had the cake (pic shown at beginning of post). It was a great day.
I realized though that we hadn't really done much by way of the real meaning of Easter. I am grateful to know that the Savior died for us, but more importantly that He lives for us. He did die on Calvary's cross, but He rose the third day and still lives today!
