We returned to Madrid in the evening of Monday May 13th. We had a hard time getting to our apartment--again because of their crazy and confusing freeway system and exits, and then also their insanely crazy and confusing city streets. I don't even know how we eventually found our hotel, but we did. We were there much later than we wanted and expected, but thankfully we were pretty well packed and ready to fly home the next day. We did have a few errands to run that night and we wanted to get to bed early...but that didn't happen. The next morning my parents' flight was at 11am, so Paul drove them to the airport with the rental car, then dropped it off, and then caught the metro back to the hotel just in time to take the taxi with Glenn and I and all our stuff to the airport.
We were so excited to be on our way home. We took a couple pictures at the airport--we liked the rainbow of colors on the support beams.
On the long flight from Madrid to Dallas, Glenn made friends with most of the people around us. There were two cute little abuelas--grandmas--sitting behind us and Glenn loved making cute faces to them. He also made friends by giving stickers to people as they passed by. He had made friends with so many people that as we left the plane, people all around us were saying good-bye to their "Sticker Buddy". He also had fun sticking them all over his face--and our faces--too. What a goof! He did really well on the flight, but of course we were all grateful to be back home.

What a great trip, in spite of the mishaps and wrong turns and lots of driving. I'm glad we were able to go visit you there and to show you around some of my old stomping grounds in France. And thanks for showing us around Madrid and putting up with my slow body and dorky comments and too much laughter!
Sounds (and looks!) like you all had quite the adventure. I'm jealous of all that you saw, but not of the frustrating times!
