The Thinkery

In Austin the children's museum is called The Thinkery.  

We met some friends there and had a great time.  The first thing you can do there is take a picture of your face and it goes on display.  There are a couple of these monitor around the museum and it's a lot of fun when you see your face up there.

There was a Light Room--so all kinds of fun things dealing with light.  This was like a giant light bright!  So fun!  Glenn and Atlas had a lot of fun with the colored pegs.

There was a screen that changed colors whenever you touched it.

And there was a shadow room.  The camera would take a picture of our shadows and they would stay on the wall for awhile.  It was a lot of fun to do different shapes with our bodies.  

We stopped in the little kitchen area where they were doing activities that was about your nose.  They had some fake snot--that's what Glenn is playing with--and they had all kinds of scents in bottles and we had to sniff them and try to figure out what they were.  It was kind of tricky, actually.  They had a lot of citrus and it was difficult to tell them apart.  

The Water Room was a favorite of the kids.   They were allowed to play in the water and splash and it was absolutely allowed.  

The little friends loved it too.  Urban loves water and had so much fun splashing around.

They of course got all wet.  Glenn got underneath the hand dryer to help get him less wet.  

Then we enjoyed a beautiful picnic outside at the park across the street.  It's difficult to get a picture with all 5 kids looking...at least we tried.

After lunch our friends left--their younger kids needed naps.  Glenn and I went back to the museum and had more fun.  They had an outside climbing thing.  Glenn was brave enough to climb to the very top.  We had a full day there and it was a lot of fun.
