San Antonio Zoo

Friday December 27th, we headed down to San Antonio.  We met with Paul's aunt Bonnye, uncle Mark and cousin Steaphan at the San Antonio Zoo. 

 It was rainy and cold at first.  It did stop raining, but it was still a bit chilly.  

The flamingos were the first animals we saw.  It was nice seeing them doing stuff other than just standing there.  I think the animals were a bit more active with the chilly weather--more so than with the heat.  

We did have several of them asleep or away...so we decided to visit the reptile house--to be inside where it was warm.  I haven't seen reptiles so active.  Usually the snakes are just curled up and the lizards aren't running around, but these ones were, so that was a cool thing.

After the reptile house, we visited the primates.  They were swinging all over and even doing a strange call.

We liked the two-headed turtle, the jellyfish, the lobster, the anteater--so cute--the tiger, the cheetahs, the hairy warthog, the Cassowary, the kangaroo and the hyena.  

We got to hear a presentation about the hippos--how they play games and get food and other interesting things.  We like being able to see them open their huge mouths!

We saw so many birds, but the coolest ones were these.  They were so bright and colorful!  It was cool to walk around in the enclosure where they could fly around and we could be close to them.

After the zoo, we went to dinner at La Madeline.  It was warm and yummy.  We all enjoyed our meals and having spent the day together.
