Paul had the day off on June 25th. We took the opportunity to go to DC to see something. This time we went to the National Zoo. It was a really nice day for it--the weather wasn't as hot as the rest of the week was--and there was a nice breeze during the day. We decided to join the Friends of the National Zoo-or FONZ-so we could get free parking every time we come back. There were some other perks too and we figured that we'd come back a few more times with Glenn and with visitors. We are definitely going to do that because we only saw a fraction of the zoo. It's nice to be close and for it to be free so we don't have to rush through it and we can enjoy it more.
I didn't get a picture of the entrance...but we did get one of the map!
The Zoo had a hands-on area and that was really fun. Even though it wasn't the exotic animals, it was still cool to be close enough to touch and pet them.
Glenn got to feed the fish too.

Paul took this cool silhouette picture of a monkey in the Brazilian rain forest enclosure.
We saw this and thought it was a clever idea...
These lions looked almost like a mirror-image, huh?
They had these interesting monkey statures...we tried to get a picture of Glenn, but he was too distracted by the kid with the tiger mask.
This giant octopus was really cool to see moving around!!
We had a good time at the Zoo and look forward to seeing more of the animals-especially the big ones!

Man, you are making me miss the east SO bad! We used to go there every year when we still went to the Washington DC temple. There are so many things to do out there! You're so lucky!
I really liked the alligator (crocodile?) picture- him coming out with his mouth wide open! I bet Kenzie would have liked to see the octopus- "pus!" as she would have called it!
