Texas has a lot of bugs and pests. We found out the hard way that fire ants' bites really hurt!
Glenn and I were playing outside when he hid behind a tree. After a few seconds he came out screaming and crying. I looked down at his feet and there were hundreds of ants all over him. He got bit so many times and was in a lot of pain.
These pictures may not look too different, but this was how they were healing a few days later. He said it was itchy and that whole area really bothered him. After this experience, any time he saw an ant, he sort of freaked out. Understandably. But we've had many discussions about ants and how not all of them will bite him and cause him pain. We do have to be really careful here in Texas...
