Symphony at the Park

Another time when we were hanging out with the Jardine's, we went to a symphony in the park.

It looked like it might rain, but they went ahead with the show anyway.  After a couple of songs, it did start raining.  They paused for a bit to see if it would let up.  It was an informal type of evening and the guy was just sort of talking and getting feedback from the audience--whether or not to cancel the show or keep going.  The audience wanted to keep going, so he asked if there were people in the audience with umbrellas who would be willing to share them with the musicians.

It was quite a site to see!  And they were able to play well, even though they might have had a hard time seeing and following the conductor behind all the people and umbrellas.
Eventually the rain did stop and they were able to continue as normal.  One of the best parts of the show was when a 14 year old conducted a song.  He won a contest and this was the reward: to lead the orchestra at this concert.  He was really good!  I took a video, but it was too long and won't load. Boo.  So you'll just have to believe me.

And of course, but who would be in the technical box making sure all the microphones and equipment was all working correctly?  Cousin Bennett!  He is so amazing at this kind of stuff and has been doing this for years--starting when he was just in high school.  He is so talented and it was good to see him there!
