Glenn Turns 6!

July ended, August began and Glenn turned 6!
Kirsta and her family had just moved to Dallas in July so they were close enough to come for his birthday.  We were so excited and happy to have them!
The morning of his birthday we played with balloons and ate breakfast--Glenn had asked for Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.
We went to a friend's birthday party while Kirsta and her kids went shopping.  Morian studied for a test he had to take for work.  When we got back it was about lunch time.  Glenn had earned several free Whataburger jr. burgers so that's where we headed for lunch.  Morian was interested in trying it out too, so that was good.  We not only got sandwiches, but fries and onion rings and root beer float shakes.  Yum!
Then Morian went off to take his test and the rest of us went to the library.  It was the closing social for the Summer Reading Program and they were having a concert and cupcakes.  A local artist, Maci Gray sang some songs and got the kids dancing and having fun.

They also had face painting.  Mackenzie got Wonder Woman!
At the end, the kids had fun playing in the bubbles.  Bubbles are fun no matter what age you are!
Thanks Maci Gray for a fun time!!

Then it was time to open gifts.  The kids had bought a dragon toy for Glenn.  He was super happy to get it!  He really likes the How to Train Your Dragon movies.
Books...
...And a placemat...
...and Twister!!
We had played that last year at Paul's cousin's house and Glenn loved it.
So after presents we played Twister.
Mackenzie took over the camera, so I was actually in some pictures. :D
And I won that round!
We ate dinner--Glenn asked for pasta.  Yep, nice and simple.  So I made a few different kinds, just to make it interesting.  And we had two different kinds of sauces too.
Then we had cake.

Let me tell you about this cake.

We've become friends with the guy who makes tortillas at the local grocery store, HEB.  We had gone shopping the day before to make sure we had all the food we needed for the weekend.  Glenn was excited about his birthday the next day and told Indra about it.  He asked Glenn what kind of cake he wanted--pointing to the ones on display.  I wasn't planning on buying one, but making one instead.  Glenn had fun looking, but I don't think he thought we'd buy one.  After saying which one he would like if we did get one, Indra left.  It sounded like it was his break time or something.  So we continued to shop and he came up to us with the cake and a receipt.  He had bought the cake for us!!  We were both so surprised!!  Thank you Indra!!
So we enjoyed the delicious--and free!!--Oreo ice cream birthday cake.
I took a picture of the kids that night, showing the sleeping arrangements.  Kirsta and Morian were in the twin beds in Glenn's room and the kids were all on the air mattress on the floor of Glenn's room.  It was a tight squeeze, but a lot of fun too.
Happy Birthday Glenn!  We sure love you!
