Glenn's Birthday Party

This year, Glenn asked for a Super-Hero birthday party.  

And a Super-Hero party Glenn got! :D

Paul and I spent a lot of time planning and figuring out how we were going to do all the fun things we had imagined.  It took some time, but after all the cutting and gluing, and all the furniture rearranging, we were finally ready for the party.

Saturday September 5th we finally hosted Glenn's birthday party.  (We wanted to wait to have his friend party until we were in our new house--thus allowing us to invite more friends and to have more space for the activities.)

We invited the kids to wear hero costumes if they had one.  If not, they got to decorate masks and cuffs when they arrived.

Once they had their costumes or whatever they wanted ready, we had them take their super hero ID photo.  And what better way to show that than with a flying photograph!!

Now that the photos were done, these kids were ready to be trained as super heroes!!

Upstairs we set up an obstacle course.  They had Hulk gloves to help them smash through a wall of boxes...

...Then they had to get small and crawl through tunnels, like Antman...

...Next they had to stretch and squeeze through tight spaces and not touch the 'laser' beams.

...And finally they had to 'face their fear of heights' and slide down to safety.

After the obstacle course, the kids learned how to be more like Spider-man--using strings to knock down bad guys.

While the kids were busy training, the Bad Guy in Black stole Glenn's birthday cake!  When we came downstairs to eat it, we couldn't because it was hidden!  Luckily for us, the Bad Guy in Black left footprints.  We followed the clues and were able to find where the cake had been stashed.

The clues led us from the hall closet to the garage, from the entry way to the guest bathroom, and finally to the kitchen where we found the cake in the oven!!

We spotted the Bad Guy in Black in back yard, so we decided to punish him.

There was a container full of water balloons, so the super heroes used their newly acquired skills to attack the villain.

As they threw the balloons at him, he tossed out candy.  Some kids couldn't decide was more important--throwing the water balloons or gathering the candy. :D

When all the candy was thrown and the Bad Guy in Black finally surrendered, we decided to take a picture with him--to prove that we had caught him!

Then it was time for presents.  This was a little hectic and crazy.  Kids love watching other kids open gifts and it usually ends up turning into an unwrapping party.  I was getting the cake and such ready at this point and had asked a friend to take pictures, so I missed which friends gave which gifts.  So sorry!  But we are thankful for each of them!

The last thing before our newly trained super heroes departed was to enjoy the cake they had rescued from the Bad Guy in Black.  

We invited the moms, dads and siblings of the party guests to come enjoy cake with us at this point.  So by this time, we had lots and lots of people in our house.  It was crazy, but fun!  We asked Cassandra to make hero-themed cake pops so there would be enough cake for all who came.

"Happy Birthday to you!!"

"Make a wish!"

The cake/cake pops were delicious and enjoyed by all.  

We had a fun time with all these kids.  We got several compliments from moms and dads who stayed, saying we have really fun parties.  We try.  We may have gone overboard on the number of guests and all the activities, but it sure was fun.
