First Trip to D.C.

We made our first trip into Washington DC on April 30.  We were there about half a day--we wanted to miss traffic on both ends--and so we kept our sight-seeing to a walk around part of The National Mall. We found some free parking and the first memorial we came to was George Mason.

Then we walked to the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.

We stopped at the lawn around the National Monument to eat some lunch and run around.

We then walked to the World War II Memorial.

And then around the Reflecting Pool (which was under construction, as well as other parts of the Mall) to the Abraham Lincoln Memorial.

Then we saw the Korean War Veterans Memorial.

And around to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

And the last one we saw was the Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial.

It was pretty incredible to see just a small taste of the memorials that are in and around this great city.
How grateful I am to our Founding Fathers and those who have sacrificed so much to give us this great nation we have today.  It's great to be an American!
