Fun with New Friends

The second day we were in Sterling, we went to the library to get a card and get acquainted with activities in the community.  They have a really fun park just outside and as we were playing out there, we met some new friends.  We have been really welcomed to this area--there are a lot of nice and friendly people here.  And family-friendly too.  There are a lot of places to go and things to do with little kids.

Rocknoceros

The friends that we met that day at the park, Jennifer and Greisen, invited us to a kids concert later that week at the mall.  We met them there and had a good time at the concert.  They are at our mall the second and fourth Thursdays of every month--pretty cool!

Glenn saw the other kids up by the stage, dancing and such and so he went up too.  Greisen didn't go up, even though he knows the band personally!  He is content to sit in his mom's lap and watch from a distance.

Frying Pan Park

Jennifer and Greisen became our fast friends.  Jennifer invited us to do all kinds of things with them!  We were very grateful because we were in the hotel with few toys; and since Paul took the car to work we didn't have a way of getting around.  Jennifer would pick us up and we had a lot of fun together.

Another adventure we had was Frying Pan Park.  Not sure exactly how it got that name, but it was a little farm that is operating like it would have in the 1950's-60's.  The boys loved seeing the animals and playing on the toy tractors!

We also got to go on a tractor/wagon ride!

Reston Town Center

With Jennifer and Greisen, Glenn and I went to the Reston Town Center.  It is an outdoor shopping area with fountains and all kinds of fun things.  Every Monday in one of the outdoor pavilion areas a local artist named Mr. Knick Knack has a free concert for kids.  Mr. Knick Knack has his guitar and he just walks around and lets the kids play and such around him.  He is a lot of fun and the kids enjoy being there.

After the concert we walked down to a little park. The boys had fun running around and then playing at the drinking fountain.  (We think it may have been a doggie one because it was so low...) : D
